Why would no an iPod or something similar be of greater utiility and flexibility? A quality mp3, oog etc. player would have more versatility if the manufacturers had the controls similar to the cd changer or is this asking too much?.
The ability to store songs from the satellite radio would also be useful.

This 6-disk CD changer is now available from GM for the 2006 Corvette with Navigation at a list price of 945.28. GM service at my dealer would not guess how much it would cost to install.

I feel GM has priced it too high in light of Ipod player interfaces with more functionally and capacity. I think I will wait until I find a supported interface for the 2006 C6.

Here is GMs description of the kits, one for Coupe and one for Convertible:

2006 C6 Coupe-
GM Part# 17802224
Usage: YY07 RADIO, DVD, CD, NAV, VOICE RECOGNITION(U3U)
Description: PLAYER PKG, REM CD(INCLS 6 DISK CARTRIDGE, BRKT, HARNESS, 3 PLT'S & ATTACHERS) (INSTALL 1.0) (TRUNK MTD) (09.970)

2006 C6 Convertible-
GM Part# 17802225
Usage: YY67 RADIO, DVD, CD, NAV, VOICE RECOGNITION(U3U)
Description: PLAYER PKG, REM CD(INCLS 6 DISK CARTRIDGE, BRKT, HARNESS, 3 PLT'S & ATTACHERS) (INSTALL 1.0) (TRUNK) (09.970)

PS. "REM" Remote, "PLT" Plate, Neither parts or service knew what "INSTALL" meant, maybe hours to install?

Why bother....burn an mp3 disk which WILL play in the 2006 and it will be the equivalent of 6 cds.
More like 8 or 9 Cds.

I have the MP3 player in my 05. I get between 170 and 190 MP3 songs on a data CD:thumbsup:

I just burned my first mp3's to try in the 2006 C6 with NAV and I got 13 albums on a single disk using Nero with some overburn. All depends on the bitrate the original cds were ripped at. I usually rip at 160 kb/s and they sound fine.

Not for those of us with Nav. There is a rumor that there is an update coming (this month??) to add MP3 capability, but I don't believe it yet.

well as of today I checked with my local dealer about the 05 nav and they checked there gm service update systems and nothing regarding this. No notice or anything. Guess it is still a rumor or we have to go after market or something to add an external cdpalyer in the back that plays mp3s. GM should have been smart and added a USB 2.0 port or someting starting in the 05 models.

It is available for 2005's(later cars)

Heres the GM word.

We are pleased to add another product to the growing Genuine Corvette Accessories portfolio. The remote-mounted 6-disc CD Changer is now available for the 2005*-2006 Chevrolet Corvette coupe and convertible. This unit installs in the rear storage compartment and holds six discs for hours of listening entertainment. Now you don't have to give up the CD changer just because you ordered the Navigation System (RPO U3U).

QUALIFICATIONS:
*2005 Chevrolet Corvette equipped with Navigation System (RPO U3U) produced after VIN break point 115217
2006 Chevrolet Corvette equipped with Navigation System (RPO U3U)

ORDER INPUT:

6-Disc CD Changer - Coupe PN:17802224 MSRP $640.00 1.0 hour install time
6-Disc CD Changer - Convertible PN:17802225 MSRP $640.00 1.0 hour install time

Thats a lot better than the over $900 that was quoted earlier, $640 + 1 hour install should be under $750 installed anywhere in the country.

Plus it'll be covered by at least a 12month 12k mile warranty, youll have no wires or mp3 players potentially causing a hazard as your wheeling your C6 onto the freeway.

Great I have 114335 so I am sh*t out of luck.

Hell all I want is the MP3 capabilities and the static gone.

This is what I sent to them about this issue a few weeks back.

I wanted to thank you for helping me out with the prior service request.

I do have another question. I have the 2005 corvette with the Navigation system. I am having problems with the radio and static on the FM and AM channels. I also cannot play MP3 CDs in the unit even though the manual says I can. I have heard that there is a GM fix for these issues. I checked with my local dealer but they did not hear about this. Can someone here point me in the right direction to get these issues resolved?

My vin is

There have been posts before concerning ther static on nav radios. If when you have static on FM , you switch to AM and then back to FM and the static goes away, there still is unfortunately no fix for this. I talked to the BQM a few weeks ago and the engineers werent done yet, I'll try and get some new info before they go on Christmas break.

However if you always have static on both bands you should see your dealer as this is most likely not an issue with the head unit but instead the antenna system, Ive seen more than a few early cars(like yours) that had the connectors in the antenna module installed improperly, replacing the antenna module has also cured several cars with bad static issues.

6 disc cd changer installation

I too want to install a 6 disc in the rear storage compartment but ,not even the chevy dealer could tell me what side it goes in or where the wiring harness was located...
Mounts in drivers side rear trunk compartment. You need to have the navigation radio for this installation. Installation is simple. GM kit comes with harness. It installs using plugin method where the XM radio harness is (above driver side rear wheel housing in trunk compartment just under the carpet). All instructions come with the GM cd changer.
